The Brief

To build an eCommerce website that will allow the client to be able to easily update, modify and build their product range within their online store. In addition they wanted fully integrated social media so they could actively promote their products across Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest.

The shop design needed to be flexible enough to allow them to have many different product categories as they have a wide range of different products from wrapping papers and cards, through canvas prints, to kitchenware such as mugs, placemats and heavier items.

They needed to be able calculate complicated postage for items of vastly different weights and sizes. For many websites this can be a complex area to set up and manage, but we built a postage calculator that uses weights as well as individual product dimensions to calculate the correct postage depending on the products added to the shopping cart.

Image Display

This site relies on high quality images to display it’s stunning designs so we needed the site to be able to present large, high resolution images quickly, without loading delays. Many of the products have several images showing different areas of the design so displaying them was important to the client.

We also build a customer loyalty system into the site so that their customers can earn points, not just for the items they buy, but they additionally earn points when they share products on their social networks. These points can then be redeemed against future purchases.

With integrated payment handling, this site works on autopilot, first by being easy to find in Google for their products as well as more generic product categories, then by allowing customers to make a purchase online.

Orders are then emailed to relevant contact addresses so that the new order can be processed and dispatched.

Morellis Design are continuously adding new products and product ranges to their website so it was vitally important that the site was simple to use so they could manage all their stock themselves. This saves them thousands of pounds in web designers costs over the years, as well as giving them full control of their site.

With automatic stock control management, the website knows when they have sold out of a particular line and marks the product as out of stock. This prevents sales processing of items that then require admin time to rectify, saving time and money.

Fully Responsive Design

It was important for Morellis to have a design that works seamlessly on all viewing devices, mobile phones and tablets as well as PC’s and laptops. The design retains their display on all devices, allowing them to maximise their exposure to the largest audience possible.

Product Slideshows

It was important for the home page to display large images featuring different products from their ranges. We built a full width slideshow to capture attention on arrival and to steer visitors through to the products they are interested in.

The home page also features products ‘buckets’ which scroll across the page. These allow Morellis to include best sellers, featured items and special offers on the home page to attract maximum attention.

Product Pages

Each product page needed to display their designs in all their glory. With several images per product, different customization and product personalisation options, the product pages have all the options needed so customers can choose exactly what they want in a simple easy to follow format.
